N.B.P.I. Uses an assortment of electronic equipment to supplement common sense & good judgment. Each investigator is acquainted in the use of all equipment for paranormal investigating. Here is a list of the equipment commonly used during a paranormal investigation.

 

 Paranormal Investigative Equipment

 

Electromagnetic Field Detector or EMF Detector – An EMF detector is an instrument for measuring Electromagnet Fields. Electromagnetic Fields are all around us. They can be created naturally and can be man made. It is theorized that spirits or ghosts are made up of energy. When a ghost is trying to manifest itself, the theory is that they cause fluctuations in the earth natural electromagnetic field, causing an EMF meter to register these fluctuations. Infrared Laser Thermometer – The theory is that spirits or ghosts are made up of energy. When a spirit or ghost is trying to manifest itself, they will draw energy from their surroundings. Researchers have found that quite often there is a noticeable localized temperature drop in an area where a spirit or ghost is trying to manifest. It is believed that the spirit or ghost is drawing energy from the air itself causing this cold spot. An Infrared Laser Thermometer can be used to show the temperature of the surrounding objects, and then these temperatures can be compared with the ambient air temperature of the cold spot. Infrared Laser Thermometer can’t be used to measure the ambient air temperature unless they are equipped with some form of external temperature probe. N.B.P.I. has 2 Infrared Laser Thermometers with ambient air temperature probes.

Radiation Meter – Some researchers have found strange levels of background radiation in areas of a reported haunting where there should not be readings present. By using a Radiation Meter you can measure fluctuations in radiation. N.B.P.I. Has 1 of these meters

 

 

Dowsing Rods – Dowsing rods have been used for many years in paranormal research. Some researchers believe that these rods or pendulums can pick up on energy fields somewhat like an EMF Meter. Some also believe that by using Dowsing rods, a spirit can control their movement by indicating “yes or no” answers by positioning the rods in different fashions or pointing the holder of the rods in a direction to lead them to a specific area. Dowsing rods are also used by people for finding water sources underground. Sceptics believe that Dowsing rods have no scientific basis for working other than the involuntary muscle movements of the user. N.B.P.I. has 4 sets of dowsing rods.

 

 

Motion Detector – Motion detectors can be used to secure an area being investigated for paranormal activity against outside tampering by others. N.B.P.I. has 6 wireless motion sensors with remote monitoring stations, 1 invisible break beam alarm, 4 motion activated lights, and 1 motion activated siren. Any of these items can help monitor an area under surveillance for paranormal activity. Since most motion sensors are made with passive infrared technology, you can be pretty sure if one of these goes off during an investigation, a warm blooded object passed through the area. Most likely not a ghost.

 

 

Digital Voice Recorder – Electronic Voice Phenomena or EVP is a term used by paranormal investigators when audible noises or voices appear on some form of recordable media that was not witnessed or heard by anyone at the time of the recording. Digital Voice Recorders are small battery operated audio recording devices which can be carried by an investigator and used for EVP sessions. N.B.P.I. has 4 Digital Voice Recorders.

 

 

Analog Voice Recorder – An Analog Voice Recorder is the same as a Digital Voice Recorder except that it uses a mini cassette tape to record onto instead of being digital. N.B.P.I. Has 1 analog recorder

 

 

Wireless Audio Transmitter & Receiver – A Wireless Audio Transmitter can be placed in an area to monitor for sound and transmit the audio back to the base area where an investigator can monitor and record the audio for future analysis. Many EVP’s have been recorder by these devices. When using any form or wireless system, you must check to ensure that nothing else in the area is transmitting in the same frequency range as your transmitter or receiver to cause interference. N.B.P.I. has 3 Wireless Audio systems.

 

 

Digital Cameras – Many Ghosts or Spirits can manifest themselves in such a way that the human eye cannot see them. Many people over the years have captured great paranormal images on film, and with the introduction of Digital Cameras it is now possible to quickly view the photos without having to wait for development. Each member of N.B.P.I brings a digital camera with them to an investigation

 

 

35 MM Cameras – As stated above, ghosts or spirits sometime appear on photos. Digital cameras are a great tool but they lack a negative to show as proof that the photo was not tampered with. 35 MM Cameras are still a good tool for paranormal investigators and N.B.P.I. always makes sure that we have at least 1 with us on an investigation.

 

 

Motion Activated Cameras – A Motion Activated Camera is another tool that can be used to secure an area against outside tampering. They will photograph anyone who passes through the sensing area. N.B.P.I. has 1 Motion Activated Camera in its inventory.

 

 

Hand Held Video Cameras – A Hand Held Video Camera is another great tool for a paranormal investigator. It allows you to record things as they happen. It gives the viewer the feeling of being there to witness the event as it unfolded. Each N.B.P.I. member has at least 1 hand held video camera that they bring with them during an investigation, most of which are night vision.

 

 

CCTV Cameras – CCTV Cameras can be used during an investigation to monitor several areas at once and record the footage for review at a later date. N.B.P.I. has 8 wired night vision CCTV Cameras and 6 wireless night vision CCTV Cameras.

 

 

PC Based Digital Video Recording System – This is a system to record the video feed from the CCTV cameras. N.B.P.I. has 2 video recording systems.

 

 

Laptop Computer – A laptop Computer can be used for many things during an investigation. N.B.P.I. uses 1 for recording the transmission from the wireless audio feed.

 

 

Parabolic Mic – A Parabolic Mic is a device that amplifies and enhances audio and sounds that are very low to the human ear. Some researchers claim that it is possible to hear real time EVP”S as they occur with the aid of a Parabolic Mic. N.B.P.I. has 1 Parabolic Mic in its inventory.

 

 

Misc. Equipment – N.B.P.I. has many other types of equipment not listed above like pens, paper, tripods, spare batteries, first aid kit, and much more.
